Praise Him for the promises to come…David’s psalms are full of this language and it’s such an encouragement and reminder for us.Life was no piece of cake for him, and certainly had its dark valley moments. But life, as we see David’s chronicles through the Psalms, was also full of hope, miracles, rescue and promises that had already been fulfilled—with still more to come.A thousand from the enemy’s camp (the principalities in the world) can be coming for you, but again and again, Adonai delivers and sets you up for a greater and better plan of success and victory.Everything and every one is under His sovereign reign; like David says “what can mere mortals do to me?” (Psalm 56:4)Anxiety and fear cannot claim rent-free space in our hearts and mind BECAUSE God is on our side, God is in control, and praises fill the space because He is ALWAYS fulfilling His promises.So keep trusting His promises friend. Jesus is worthy to have all there is to be had in the heart that He died to win…
I was reminded again of the hymn Turn your eyes upon Jesus, and discovered that it was inspired by a leaflet written by Lilias Trotter in 1901.
Lilias wrote,
“Never has it been so easy to live in half a dozen good harmless worlds at once - art, music, social science, games, motoring, the following of some profession, and so on. And between them we run the risk of drifting about, the “good” hiding the “best” even more effectually than it could be hidden by downright frivolity with its smothered heart-ache at its own emptiness.”
“How do we bring things to a focus in the world of optics? Not by looking at the things to be dropped, but by looking at the one point that is to be brought out.”
“Turn full your soul’s vision to Jesus, and look and look at Him, and a strange dimness will come over all that is apart from Him, and the Divine “attrait” by which God’s saints are made, even in this 20th century, will lay hold of you. For “He is worthy” to have all there is to be had in the heart that He has died to win.”
The narrative and urging of the saints has not changed for millennia:
…to not grow tired
…to muster the biggest breath and strength to run your legs off, like it’s the last 100m of the race, as heaven’s witnesses loudly cheer your name towards the finish line
…to ruthlessly fix your eyes on the only and great prize worth staking everything and anything upon: Jesus Christ.
(Hebrews 12:1-3)

May our day be formed around rejoicing, rather than our rejoicing form from the conditions of the day.When Paul wrote his letter to the Philippians, he was still bound in chains as a prisoner because of his faith and professed hope in Jesus, the Messiah.He exhorted the church to “Rejoice always. Again I say, rejoice!” (Philippians 4:4).It was significant in every way.Yes, it was a significant and unexpected instruction coming from a man who had been through repeated persecution, beatings and trials, yet still remained a prisoner in chains for believing in Jesus.But here’s further significance of his words: a double emphasis in the Bible means the author is instructing us to take note of the importance of that text. It’s the equivalent of using bold and italicised font to draw the reader’s attention.We can put it this way…It’s better to let our rejoicing structure our day, instead of waiting for our day (and whatever happens around us or to us) to become suitable for rejoicing.November is typically a month of thanksgiving for friends in/from the US. We don’t celebrate any kind of National day of thanksgiving in Australia (so sad!), but actually, everyday is made for rejoicing in the Lord.There’s so much to be thankful for—His loving kindness, the day He has made, the grace He lavishes upon us along with His new morning mercies, the gift of His Presence and the company of family, friends and sisters and brothers in Christ…. So, so much to the thankful and rejoice in His Name.🙌 What are you thanking the Lord for today? Not just some things or occasionally do things work together for good…But… A L L THINGS work together for good to those who love God, and called according to His Purpose. (Romans 8:28)The favour and the sweet, unmerited grace of the Lord chases after us (Psalm 23:6)and His Spirit goes before us to lead us in the way everlasting (Psalm 129:24)That’s what so good about our Good Father. He piles up a heap load of good onto more good and pours it upon us. Every day and every where you go, He is working out good for you.It’s His beautiful way and nature, and we get to be the blessed recipients.That is something most praiseworthy and for rejoicing.
